Built in the town of Monte Eboli, the plant extends over an area of 42 hectares, owned by the Municipality of Salerno, which has appointed Toto Group for the design, construction and management of the park for 19 years. Thanks to the exposure to sunlight of photovoltaic modules made of polycrystalline silicon, the plant transforms solar energy into direct current electricity. This is then converted into alternating current by electronic devices (inverters) and finally transferred to Enel Distribuzione’s electricity grid.
The use of photovoltaic technology makes it possible to produce electricity without any emission of polluting substances, saving fossil fuel and without producing noise pollution. Another characteristic of renewable energies is that they are always local sources, which help to reduce dependence on energy imports. Their diffusion on the territory promotes the relaunch of economic and social development starting from a local and regional base.
